The Department for Work and Pensions make it clear that the Fit Note is for advisory purposes only. The Employer is entitled to seek an alternative medical opinion and in many cases we can help the employee return to work sooner by recommending adjustments or modified duties. Presenteeism is also an increasing problem in the current economy with many employees struggling with health conditions resulting in decreased productivity, stress and burnout.

Common reasons for referral include stress, depression, musculoskeletal problems and long-term illness. We can refer in to specialist services such as physiotherapy and psychiatry to expedite recovery.

Assessment includes an in-depth assessment of the employee’s health conditions in relation to their duties and working environment. Creative solutions are devised that are workable for all parties which reflect the requirements of the Equality Act 2010. The consultation is followed by a high-quality, easy to understand report to the manager and employee within 36 hours of the assessment.
